What type of wood do you use for your coops and run extensionsUpdated 5 months ago
We build our coops from Fir, the same wood your house is made of. We have found it to be a great alternative to Cedar, which splits too easily. Fir has natural resiliency to the elements and is also light weight which aides the setup of the coop.
Like all other outdoor structures made of wood, we recommend putting an additional layer of protection by staining or painting the coop once you've set it up, just like you would a porch or a shed. We offer a color-matching stain that you can buy on our website and pick up at your local Sherwin-Williams. It's an exact color match, and you'll save 10% off the retail price.
